The
Living with a Portrait series by Chicago photographer
Jason Lazarus literally explores ideas of living with portraits - whether formal or casual. We adore the richness and depth of portrait detail contrasting with a stark (possibly equally as staged?) domestic setting. Lots more below:

First friend to die (Mike Tomeczko)

Michal's grandfather on bedroom wall

Jane Fonda in Dirk's home

Jacob's portrait of Kafka in bedroom (painted by an ex-lover)

Adam's portraits, remembering his friends mother

Lavina Erbes as a young girl (Kansas farmhouse)

Martha's great grandmother

Diamond's grandfather in bedroom (Hong Kong)

Traditional portrait in kitchen

This is really interesting -- especially the political photos. My grandparents had one of FDR. I was probably about 10 before I realized he wasn't a relative.
