apartment therapy changing the world, one room at a time

The Gallery: layerbylayer on Etsy

081308-etsy1.jpg The bio page of his Etsy store simply reads: "He : is a schooled architect whose interests span from clothing design to painting to electronics." Somehow that seems like the right amount of information from an artist who brings us nature in a minimalist form. Using simple materials like moss, beeswax, dirt and cardboard, this Brooklyn based artist produces 100% original, made to order pieces. Click through the jump to see more...

081308-etsy2.jpg This piece is entitled, "Mimic." Like the artists other pieces, it is said to be a geometric entity to occupy a desk, a dresser or any space in your life.

081308-etsy3.jpg This one is called, "Magnet." The outer casing is made of recycled cardboard coated in beeswax. The beeswax adds strength as well as a pleasant smell. The top has two wells; one filled with beeswax, the other with a swatch of moss.

081308-etsy4.jpg "Kinetic," is the name of this one. It contains two wells; one is filled with soil while the other is a swatch of moss. The piece is two separate pieces and can be rolled or stacked.

081308-etsy5.jpg This piece is titled, "Three." The three wells are filled with either beeswax, moss or dirt and helps to bring a little bit of the outside in when you can't get out to enjoy it.
