The Gallery: Matt Mills from Nicely Drawn

080608-rocker.jpg So you've been to Design Within Reach and sometimes it doesn't so "within reach." You've checked out websites and watched your inbox for sale coupons or flyers, but nothing seems to be curbing your desires. The urge for modern/classical furniture pieces seems uncontrollable at times when you are living without. Thoughts of them seduce you in your dreams by night and in our home tours by day. Click through the jump to see how prints of these great pieces from artist Matt Mills might curb your wild desires.

Buying furniture that is made to last is a great investment. That's no secret to any of us. Seams that are hand stitched by artisans and designs that come from the who's who of design are sometimes all we can think about. We read the design blogs and assume that every house must have at least one of these classical pieces. But sometimes, things like food and shelter come before major purchases of that sort.

Artist Matt Mills (we featured his Midwest Modern home a few months ago) has bridged the gap between furniture that might hurt the average pocketbook and a house without their presence. Take a look at a few of his patterned pieces below...

080608-wassily.jpg This Wassily Chair is much more affordable than the real thing at $24.99 (as are the artists other prints).

080608-eames.jpg Eames Lounge Chairs steal the hearts of those who own them. This print can steal yours over at Thumbtack Press.

080608-marshmallow.jpg Marshmallow Sofas look super fun. We tell ourselves that we don't need one, because we couldn't watch an entire season of LOST while sitting on one. But there's no reason the flatter version couldn't adorn your bookshelves instead.

080608-barcelona.jpg The neutral tones of Mill's artwork, seen here in this Barcelona Chair print, would accent many spaces with a touch of modernism without feeling too pushy. All of them are giclee prints done with archival inks. With care, they should last as long as the real thing.

Don't forget that as we go through life that having the finer things in our spaces can truly put a smile on your face. But if that isn't in the cards, maybe some of these works might be.

I'm always wishy washy about stuff like this. On one hand I really appreciate the forms of these pieces and love looking at them. On the other hand its a little ....easy, I guess, to copy and reproduce the forms. More reproduction than creative.

I recently bought some Eames chair prints from pleasebestill on Etsy, which I totally love. Check out her shop: http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=13748907

You totally have me pegged where you said "thoughts of them seduce you in your dreams by night."

My dreams are very simple, I just need some Hans Wegner chairs for my dining room.

*sigh*
