The Gallery: Rebecca Silus

Neighborhood, 2008, 24 x 24 inches, Oil on Canvas

Rebecca Silus' paintings remind us of the cold, quiet feeling of Midwestern suburbs. These houses could be on the outskirts of St. Louis, Milwaukee, or the artist's home city, Minneapolis. This season, with the snow constantly thawing and refreezing, these paintings seem very appropriate. Click below for more images.

Amazing. I really love the "tight" houses, and the "loose" surroundings.
Reminds me a bit of an equally amazing artist (and friend) Jessica Bonin. Her work is getting quite a bit of press.. yet her pieces are much more affordable for those who cant quite "invest" in paintings.

Jessica and her significant other, James also run a gallery/shop in the middle of nowhere (near Bellingham, WA) called the Lucky Dumpster. look it up if you're ever in the area!
