The Labor Day List: What's on Yours?

crop090409.jpgIf a day off work for Labor Day only means that you'll instead labor away on your home, we're curious what's on your to-do list. If the weather holds and you've got any outdoor space at all, we recommend working on jobs that allow you to enjoy some fresh air:

1. Spruce up a small apartment deck or landing for fall; consider some outdoor cushions, a table and chairs, etc. Outdoor accessories are on sale now that it's end of season.
2. If you have a garden or yard, clean it up! Weeding, trimming, and adorning followed by relaxing and enjoying sounds like a great Labor Day Monday to us.
3. Wash those windows!

What's on your Labor Day List?

the plan at this moment is to clean the entire house (including windows!) and then cleaning out the closet and organizing it AGAIN...but there's some fun stuff planned too...now let's see if that actually happens...

We are remodeling our master bathroom… taking up the carpet (carpet in the bathroom… gross!) repainting, replacing the vanity, mirror, light fixtures, and medicine cabinet. We may also be painting a small wall in our kitchen in blackboard paint! Love 3 day weekends!

I'll be packing up my apartment to move into my new place - one block away!

I would love to attack my scary basement, BUT have to finish prepping bathroom for painting. I have spent the past 2 weeks scraping 80s seashell wallpaper. Then going back and scraping last bits of paper and glue. Then going back and scrubbing down the walls. Now I am in the midst of patching cracks/holes and smoothing out rough spots in the plaster. Hope to finish prepping/smoothing the walls this weekend, then I can PRIME! (then, paint.) Then put in the new toilet, light fixture, etc. wheee!

I think I will hang some window shades and bird proof my balcony (can't stand the bird droppings)

That photo of the succulents is absolutely stunning!

To souk1501, a really cheap and effective way to keep birds away from your balcony is to put a kids toy rubber snake somewhere visable.. they won't come near.

My fun is giving the apartment a deep scrubbing today since I'm entertaining parents all weekend. My father-in-law and his new bride for lunch Sunday, my parents for dinner Sunday night, and then my mother-in-law for dinner Monday.

Considering my new neighbors are using their balcony (which is connected to mine) as a place to store bikes, I'm not so worried about the outside.

I'm cleaning and sorting through all the papers in my over-flowing desk, and baking a cake with some of the garden produce.
