The ReBuilding Exchange

Having just celebrated its grand opening on Friday, February 13th, The Rebuilding Exchange has been collecting donations for a while now...and it's finally open to the public! The concept and ongoing results are impressive: The ReBuilding Exchange is a non-profit building material reuse center that collects donated used building materials from deconstruction projects, renovations and other sources for resale to the general public at a very low cost.

The mission of the ReBuilding Exchange is to divert building materials from the waste stream and make them accessible to the public for reuse, protecting community health, creating jobs and saving resources. We do this through the promotion of sustainable deconstruction practices, by making used build materials available for purchase at low costs, by providing educational resources and by creating programming that builds community and rebuilds Chicago's neighborhoods.
