TileVault: A New Bathroom

20070918bath1.jpg

What: Egeum single-fired ceramic tiles by Imola Ceramica in Lapis.
Where: A newly-renovated master bath in Denver, CO
When: Photos taken Monday 08.27.07, 6:00 am
Why: Because it feels like a spa. The tile color is both bold and soft. The blues and grays in each piece blend and play together to form an all-over oceanic wash. Yet the crisp white tile around the tub and gentle gray walls keep the small space from looking too busy.

And steps up to the tub?
Spa City, baby.

There's also a good use of pattern and scale here. The 8x8" floor tiles are an appropriate fit for the room and mirror the glass block window.

The countertop and step risers are tiled in 4x4". This keeps everything from looking static (and also saves the tiler a lot of cutting).

A beautiful look and vibe for this bathroom.
However, I would caution a designer choosing this step up, then down bathtub access.
