Look!: Pumpkin Carving Kits

If you're up for carving some pumpkins this weekend, Time Out came up with three easy carving kits. We've never used a kit before, but just end up generally getting (somewhat) creative, making a mess, then realizing our design isn't exactly what we wanted (it's all about the right tools!). These kits were rated by Time Out in number of stars, with the 1) Dremel Pumpkin Carving Kit (available on Amazon for $20) coming in on top with a 5 star (out of 6) rating. Other options:

2) Pumpkin Masters CD Pattern Maker (3 stars) for $7, and 3) Crate & Barrel's Pumpkin Carving Kit (4 stars), $16, available in-store at 850 W. North Ave. and 646 N. Michigan Ave.

What do you guys use for carving jack o' lanterns??

Actually, if you already have a dremel you can do the same thing the carving kit says. Just use the engraving bit. I carved our names into a pumpkin for our Oct. 7th wedding in this manner and it turned out GREAT!
