We'll be the first to admit that we don't always use eco-cleaning supplies. Mainly that has to do with our budget, but we would certainly like to make it more of a priority (and after searching around, we've realized that the prices are not all as high as we thought).
Since we are not experts in this department, we're looking to you to help round out our top ten list of environmentally-friendly cleaners. Thoughts on what's the best, what works on what, and where to buy are all welcome. We've started off the list with lemon and aloe vera Ecover dishwashing liquid, which has been recommended to us before. The list continues...

I find Trader Joe's earth-friendly laundry detergent and dishwashing soap to actually be a bargain...
Also, Seventh Generation toilet paper isn't a bad deal if you buy it when it's on sale...
I use Simple Green for lots of household chores. It is non-toxic, biodegradable, not too expensive and readily available in my small Midwest town.
i've always been of the opinion that specialized cleaning products are more of a marketing tactic than a practical necessity.
i'm a fan of sponge + simple green for all 95% of my household cleaning tasks. it's also a good stain treatment for clothes before they go into the wash.
I've been using Ecover for a long time and like it very much. Good choice!

Being a fan of Simple Green, I was super bummed to read that the chemical called ethylene glycol butyl ether or EGBE is on California's list of toxic air contaminants and Simple Green contains it. Full article here:

I am a huge proponent of baking soda, vinegar and basic liquid soap from the health food store. Mix the baking soda and liquid soap and you have a basic soft scrub. Put vinegar, water and lavender oil in a spray bottle and you have a great all-purpose cleaner. Vinegar and baking soda make a great drain clearer. They are my go-to trifecta of eco-cleaning goodness.
