Do you have a favorite? There are so many different kinds of wine openers available these days. We received a fancy Rabbit one as a gift and it didn't last long - we are back to an old-fashioned wooden one. It isn't fancy but it works well. Here are ten from all around the web...
Peter Holmblad for Stelton set for $79.
Alessi Parrot for $42.
Jasper Morrison's Socrates for $139.Black Rabbit by Metrokane for $39.95
Alessandro Mendini's Limited Edition Anna G for Alessi for $95.
Alessandro Mendini's Alessandro for Alessi for $37.50.
Cork Popper for $19.95
The basic 3 in 1 for $7.95
Antonio Citterio for iittala for $50
Lever Opener set by Le Creuset for $149.95
Grrr, wine bottle openers drive me crazy. Can't they make one that actually pulls the cork ALL the way out, rather than leaving you struggling with trying to rip the last half inch out of the bottle?
Try Pulltap's Malvasia. You can find one at Sur la Table for around $25. It's a double lever, and it's the best I've ever used. Don't buy the cheap one (~$8) that looks like it - the second lever isn't as flexible and it's not even comparable.
My favorite bottle opener is a cork puller. I have never had any problems with breakage...

These are some fun options. My one thought: It looks like the parrot is the only opener that is double-hinged. In my experience, double-hinge-edness is key to a solid wine key.
Perfect timing - I just broke my favorite cork screw 10 mins. ago. I've had it for at least 15 yrs. so I guess it was time.
All fancy corkscrews suck. I've had the same waiter's corkscrew for 15+ years; it was a giveaway from a wine purveyor when I worked as a bartender.
It's a lever-style like that Le Creuset, but there's no reason to pay $150, unless you're, um...compensating. A good one can be found at any wine shop or kitchenware department for 5-10 bucks.
Just make sure the main handle part is plastic. My mom got one with a bent-metal handle (by Oneida), and it can be hard on your hand if you've got a balky cork.
