Crunch Can

030807crunchcans_01.jpgTerribly girly designs, yes, but these crunch cans (aka contemporary laundry bags or carry-alls) are a good idea.

We're constantly reconfiguring how and where we store towels, and this could be a good way to do it. And, the neutral, rectangular one (pictured below) is a good alternative to all the pastels and butterflies of the cylindrical "cans."

From Umbra, these are available online at Plush Pod for $24 (100% cotton).

ikea has some fairly similar ones in plain black or white. They have a velcro ring on the top so you can hang it in your closet on the hanger rod.. I think they were $4.99.

They also compact easily and have a zipper around the edge so you can zip then into compact form OR zip them together forming a column of bags.

I can't find them on the website but I loooove them.

Linked in my name is a collapsible laundry basket that has transformed my laundry experience. (This isn't an alternative to what's posted, just an expansion of the topic.) I was using standard plastic laundry baskets that took up way too much room when they were empty. I switched to a couple of these (this isn't where I got them, which I can't remember, but it is the product), and they fold up and fit between the washer and dryer when they're empty. And because of the handles, I can carry them with one hand when they're full.
