One of our favorite places to escape to is Palm Springs. Something about the time-capsule celebration of all things MCM, the peaceful vibe of the desert and the good energy of city folk escaping their urban homes for a few days (lots of LA folks everywhere) has always made visits here fun.
We've stayed at hotels in Palm Springs in the past, but a dream has been to rent a small house for a week or so to kick back and really enjoy the sun and views of the mountains.
During one of our wishful-thinking, online getaway searches, we ran across this 2 bedroom vacation rental in a small poolside community called Desert Holly. The house is a super example of Mid C desert architecture, and has the pool right outside and is close to downtown.
It's just kitschy enough to be fun for a holiday (a citrus colored living room! and the fireplace! and the rock garden "lawn"!) and seems perfect for case of midwinter "must get away".
We've got it bookmarked, just in case we really need it come February...

My girlfriend and I rent houses from this company a few times a year and it's always a pleasure. We usually pack up a couple cars full of friends and spend 2 nights one of the larger 5 or 6 bedroom houses. It's a great deal, and awesome alternative to a hotel, and really the only way to get all my friends out of the city at once.
