The Guest House is part of a larger conservation community that's limiting development to preserve open spaces. You can travel there from Chicago via the South Shore Commuter Rail and a Michigan city bus. Much of the food is locally grown, and farmers markets and local restaurants are nearby. The house sits on 170 acres of wooded areas, wetlands, meadows and ponds.
