The serene rooms then make way to the very different look of the Coral Bar, described in the September issue of Vogue: "Inspired by fiery-colored flora and fauna found under the sea, (Wearstler) chose a bar made of shagreen and topped with rich Persian travertine, vermilion leather chairs, and a 22K antique gold leaf mural swimming with shimmering fish."

Novelty chairs, novelty lamps, novelty tables. I used to love Kelly Wearstler.

I thought she was already over the Hollywood Regency thing. Apparently she's doing a double-take.

Well.. Kelly has pinned herself into such a "style" that I'm sure people hire her specifically to get that look.
She's been typecast.

And what exactly is wrong with Hollywood Regency/Palm Beach Style?
I like it - it's luxurious and elegant without being stuffy or ostentatious.

I don't think there is anything wrong with it. I like it and she does it well.
I was commenting more towards the "I thought she was over it" comment. Maybe she is personally but her clients want what she is known for.
My hope for her is that if she truely is over it personally, that she is able to break out of the typecast and get work that allows her to try something new.

This look less hollywood regency than her past designs.
For those who dislike her style, there are just as many who do like it. She is a smart business woman and talented. Seeing as how many of the designistas have grown tiresome of her and the mainstream is gravitating toward this look, she is definately on her way to building a recognizable and successful brand.
Far be it for me or anyone else for that matter to fault a creative person for creating a lucrative business. In doing so, she is affording herself and her growing staff the ability to explore new design directions.

I love it! Especially the second from the bottom pic.
Sometimes, as a later post suggests, AT can get a bit too "mid-century." I love seeing different styles. I think they should all be shown.

I think she picks interesting pieces to look at. I'm drawn to the different shapes and textures. The lines of the bed and headboard in the first picture are just so right. (in my opinion)
