Description: My only (for now!) summer escape has been to Peníscola, which is only 40 miles from my home in Spain, but new to me. It's a beautiful beach town, with breathtaking views from its castle and beautiful narrow streets and sunny balconies...
It feels like being in a movie about Mediterranean holidays... and then I realized I live in a Mediterranean holiday destination! Since last weekend, I feel lucky for being able to swim in that blue sea every afternoon after work.

Thanks for sharing your escape, Gràcia!

Beautiful pictures!! I want to go there. They sure have gardening on a small balcony down to a science. Quite inspirational.

Thanks! It was amazing to see how they manage to keep those beautiful balcony gardens and I can't seem to keep my little Aloe Vera alive at home...

I wonder if the name Pensacola, Florida comes from Peníscola, Spain, because Pensacola was founded by the Spanish -- it would be interesting to know, because I was born in Pensacola :-)

That's funny, because we ALWAYS make the joke of calling Peniscola Pensacola, hahahahaha

PENIScola? Seriously? omg, lol!

In Spanish is Peñíscola, in Catalan (language spoken there) Peníscola. It's not that funny here, really! hahahaha
Anyway, I guess the name means something close to "Rocky" Since the Castle is on top of a huge rock.
