Description: During last year's Escapes Month, we escaped to the Tallgrass Prairie of Kansas. We were there to find the perfect wedding location in the landscape we love most: that of the Tallgrass Prairie. This year, when we got married, we escaped there once again for the ceremony.

We found our dream landscape at Flint Hills Ranch, a getaway for those looking to be ranchers for a day. We didn't do any ranching there - just got married - but the ranchers there were gracious hosts to us and our families.

A reception was then held at our family's home - it was an evening out under the stars, dining with family and friends in the field our family has tended for generations.

0829_prairie5.jpg The escape for us was twofold: One, to the rolling and almost surreal hills of the Tallgrass Prairie. Two, to a fun party in the field where we grew up, with all of those who are dear to us. Photos: Matt Benfer and Peggy Bair.

Oh Regina. I love the Flint Hills. I'm originally from Kansas and caught my breath at these photos. Thank you so much for posting them. It's so hard to describe the grandeur and expanse of this part of the state. Few people imagine there is much to be excited about in Kansas, but the Flint Hills does it to me every time--no matter what season. Again, thank you for this unexpected pleasure today.

I miss do miss the rolling hills of Kansas. I once had the privileged of driving through the Flint Hill during an electrical storm. It was an amazing site.
