doesn't surprise me - the french also fairly recently (w/in the past few years) just increased their work-week from 35hours to 40.

It made me laugh when I read 30 days in Brazil. This is not the case of the Brazil I know. High unemployment and a large percentage of people that work under the table make a 30 day vacation a dream that only the priveliged can enjoy.

Sure, it´s difficult here in Brazil to take 30 days straight...depends on the company you work for....Now I´m glad to work in a place that follows the law and allows you to take your 30 days... I like to take 15 and then after six months I take more 15 days...But a lot of co-workers perfer to take just 20 days and the other 10 days they use to sell to the employer...
There are just a few (and serious) companies that allows you 30 days...
I remember when I worked in a terrible place where the boss just gave the week between Christmas and New Year´s day for all employees...like 10 days or less...it was a hell, I don´t use to travel this time and even if I wanted, the prices for hotels/tickets are expensive because this time is summer here...so...I feel really lucky now :)

I grew up in the Middle East, in the United Arab Emirates, where my parents still work. They get 45 days paid vacation days per year. Which is why I'm moving right back when I'm done with university!
