Mobile Bathtub by Marie-Louise Gustafsson

20080313portotub1.jpgImagine the perfect bath experience - the temperature is just right, the bubbles are ideally bubbly. Now imagine that bath out in the rose garden, under a full blanket of stars.

Swedish designer Marie-Louise Gustafsson is trying to make that dream a reality with the Mobile Bathtub. But who says you have to take it outside...

20080313portotub2.jpgWe enjoy this working concept of the Mobile Bathtub, despite the missing logistics on how to actually fill it.

Perhaps you have a small living space but HUGE closets - just stow your tub and pull it out for bathing. Our favorite idea is to keep it empty and on the porch as seating. The artwork, painted by Elin Melberg, keeps things classy.

What are your thoughts on the porto-bath?

Now if I only had that country estate, with the rose garden...

The logistics of actually emptying it might be problematic too.

I don't know about a portable tub working, but my friend Beth does indeed have a clawfoot tub in her garden ... hooked up to a hose. of course it's only good in summer when it's really hot and you just want to sit out in the flowers and take a cold bath ...

makes me miss living in the country.

p.s. she of course has a real tub inside the house too ;-)
