New Toilet Seats from Kohler

033108toilet1.jpgHow's this for a toilet seat name: "Spring Tides™ Elongated Artful Toilet Seat with Polished Chrome Hinges." For $59.90 and up, this fresh new seat is part of Kohler's new line also including "Autumn Tides" and others below:

Well, these are better than those foul toilet lid stickers from last week...

IMO toilets are white. They can be modern, retro, Toto, Kohler, or a Habitat for Humanity cast off. But white. All white. For years "they" have been messing with them. And it never works. Glam up something else, leave toilets alone!
Yet again, I don't think I can jump on the bandwagon with this one.

Did they use old Kleenex box designs?

No thanks.

I agree with maritita and travis. These seats, and the decals last week, are one step away from the knitted doll skirt toilet paper cover.

Ditto everything martita said.

the only one that's decent is "Avantis".

I think toilet seat upgrades are like dogs in dresses, pointless.

What? No mention of the "Surprise" model?

I don't know about you guys, but finding a surprise in the toilet is not my favorite thing...

Please, please, AT, if you care about us at all, *please* stop with the toilet seats.

the first design reminds me of the burning man stickers I see on cars around here...

Does any of them glow in the dark? Because that would be very practical plus "green", since we won't have to turn the light on...

travis: "Did they use old Kleenex box designs?"

That says it better than anything! I thought Kohler had pretty good design sense until these showed up. The upgraded hinges are nice, I guess.

@martita. Ha ha I live in a rental with a circa 1939 magenta and cream tile and toilet/ bath combo. I had to use a black toilet seat on my magenta toilet. It's all very Versace -and I mean Showgirls Versace. Actually, a magenta toilet hides a multitude of sins...I kind of love it!

Am I the only person who loves knitted doll skirt toilet paper covers? : )

Avantis is nice. And I can imagine somebody (cleverer than me) making Autumn Tide work in a crisp white and bamboo bathroom.

But there's a problem when toilet seats start getting names. Toilets are not artwork; they are for the very most practical of purposes. Drawing attention to them just isn't going to work. Ever.

why on earth would you want to draw attention to the toilet?

travis, that is exactly what I was thinking...and I'm always looking for ways to *cover* tissue boxes!
