Nate’s Custom Vinyl & Sewing

owlcov80808.JPGThis graphic childhood logo is now a local craft-cult icon. Thank Nate's immortalizing needles and his very own Vinyl Lux technique of layered, stitched, dimensional art.

Recreate your pet, your design or your own personally beloved grocery icon in Naugahyde, leather or upholstery fabrics. Pillows? Wall art? Furniture? Bike seats? He does it and more—images and links after the jump. Piggly, get wiggly.

From his basement studio in Northeast Minneapolis, Nate also does vespa seats, guitar straps, custom bags—just about anything. He's also a very apt tufter. He got his start fabricating restaurant banquettes.

On Nate's site you'll see many of his pieces are influenced by a mid-century rockabilly sort of aesthetic, but his commercial-stitch witchery can apply to any visual vernacular. Work with him on your design or buy one of his.

The wall hangings are on plywood with a sturdy self-hanger attached. Pillows have contrasting button closures for removal. Prices start around $75-80.

Red Owl was his first project and still a favorite, which may explain the many faces of Owl in Nate's gallery.

That red owl is too cool -
Wasn't it a grocery store logo back in the day? Was it IGA or A&P?
