Svenska Mobler specializes in a very specific niche: Swedish Modernist and Argentine Functionalist 20th Century furniture. Both mid-century styles have rich wood tones and and clean lines. The shop also carries Mark Shaw's fashion photographs (shown above) from the 50s and 60s, populated with elegant models in lux interiors...

Does the store really misspell 'Möbler' or are you just being lazy about the umlaut? Ah. Clicked the link. You're just being lazy about the umlaut.

Hint: in Swedish o and ö are different letters, and if you substitute one for the other, you are spelling it wrong. Gratuitous, non-functional umlauts are a Heavy Metal thing.

I love this store. Tip: they have an Ebay site as well with some fab bargains - last year I scored this 1940's Swedish flame birch credenza for around $1000. I retrofitted it to hold a 35 inch flat screen, and it's now the centerpiece of my living room.

I recently wrote a review (no umlauts, sorry) on my Chicago-centric home design blog, Strange Closets (http://www.strangeclosets.com).

The direct link is http://www.strangeclosets.com/2008/04/this-week-at-svenska-mobler.html.

Long story short - awesome furniture, awesome people.

Sarah-

Why not try using "view source" on their website to see how they managed the html, then?

monstertruck - Do you know their eBay name? I tried Svenska Möbler but came up with nothing.

oops - think I made a mistake. The ebay store I actually bought the credenza from is Bjork Antikt

I'm always surfing Svenska, though.

So nice to see "us" "here"!
And leading with one of our just-released Shaw images.

For those concerned, we are stident in our umlaut usage, but have nothing at all against heavy metal. Or eBay, though we never list a thing on there.

I hope those of you who enjoy the website make an effort to pop in and see our things in person.

thx,
beth
