Experimental Wall Treatments by Mashallah Design

11-13-08wallpaperlead.jpgHave you ever thought about tacking up your shoe collection to the living room wall, or covering the hallway walls in Turkish carpets? Berlin-based firm Mashallah Design takes these madcap ideas and turns them into reality. Our favorite is the fringe wallpaper, a three-dimensional product that hangs on the wall like a scarf or a skirt. You choose where you want the fringe to start, and the wallpaper hanger combs out the walls and plaits the fringe for you…

Some of Mashallah's wall treatments are more practical than others, but they all have a sense of humor and originality that we love. For more information, visit Mashallah Design.

the fringe is just messy and amateur-looking.

the stiletto shoe shelves are better but too crafty-looking for some reason and there will be ugly stains left on the wall from the shoes. i like the idea but it wouldn't work in real life unless there was protective plate against the wall. and there's the smelly shoes issue we already went through in former posts:

but i think the rest is really great. love the rest.

i really like a few of them.. and dislike a few.
i was hoping to see some screaming about "code" with the fringe one and the electrical outlet.. maybe later.. CATS and DOGS were worth it for me.

Design or found objects on wall?
That said, love the wall dust ruffle in the first pic.

These are really cool. I like it. I think that it makes things more interesting. Now, you won't see these types of things in the typical home, but for experimental purposes, its fantastic.
