Hand-Painted Wallpaper from de Gournay

Claud Gurney is a well-traveled man. A native of Surrey, he worked in Paris for many years before arriving at our very own University of Chicago to study economics, and ultimately returning to England to set up shop in Kent. He opened de Gournay as a source for high-quality handmade papers based on 18th and 19th century designs. Click below to see some of his rich, unique collections...

We first discovered Claud Gurney in this article from the University of Chicago Magazine. His hand-painted wallpapers caught our eye, and we were excited to see that a U of C grad made it big in the world of interior design.

We just finished a home installation where we did a Dining Room in DeGourney Wallpaper (the middle teal one in the final picture actually, though the color was a little different). It is absolutely stunning and impressive, but not for the faint of designing expenses heart. It is a serious investment, but if you can afford it, very worth it.

We remind our clients that if they move they can have the paper steamed and removed and use it again in a smaller room, on doors, as a accent detail or as framed panels.
