When I was growing up, my family moved around a lot, but my parents tried to bring some consistency to our homes by decorating each place in a similar way. I always remember my dad's study with a world map hanging above the desk. To this day, I see maps in home offices as timeless and reassuring...










I love maps, and have since my jr. high/high school days when my grandparents took their lives on the road in a Winnebago. They'd send postcards to my brother and I, so my mom tacked a large map of the U.S. on the dining room wall so we could mark each place they stopped.
Years and years later I saw a picture of a powder room re-do where the homeowners used a map-of-the-world wallpaper - the Bermuda Triangle ended up being right next to the sink where they hung a triangle shaped towel rack.
One of these days I'll find that perfect map to frame and use in my home office area...
