There's usually a large divide between the way that workplaces are designed and the way we want to live at home, but we've found several examples that break from that pattern. The offices shown above offer lots of ideas for making a workplace more homey or making a home more work-friendly...
Using non-corporate furniture is key. You won't see any formica-topped conference tables or wall-to-wall file cabinets above. Instead, family-style dining tables and attractive wood shelving make these spaces feel more welcoming. Artwork is another important part of each office. Collections range from clustered paintings to maps plastered on the wall.
Ideas to implement at home include dining tables that can double as work surfaces, a good mix of overhead and task lighting to illuminate your work, and repurposing standard shelving (rather than file cabinets) to hold binders and work documents.

I so envy them. My current office is literally the old storage closet, which means I have no windows and it's cold. The only way I know if it's raining is if one of my coworkers mentions it. I love the furniture. Not that I'm not productive now, but I would feel much more so if I worked in an office that looked like this one. Wonder if they're hiring......

These are beautiful. Not a single filing cabinet in sight. I love it. Nice post.

Yes, exactly... not a single filing cabinet in sight... so where does all the filing go??

These spaces are great. I love how inviting they look. The Pride & Glory office is especially nice.
As far as the filing cabinets, lots of people are digitizing files now so they can access them remotely and take up less space.

I am lucky that I get to see cool offices every few days. There probably are some files they just did not photograph them and often concealed
That 4th office is really cool.
