So good! We've always liked the Chilewich offerings - they seem like a perfect marriage between rich texture and a minimal aesthetic. We think the decision to move to window coverings is brilliant - a sharp hard-edge look for the window with tons of warm texture built in - clean but not boring. We ran across these new shades this morning while researching today's good question and had to pull together this post...

The Chilewich patterns are available in both roller shades and a panel system. The roller shades start at $245 (for 36x60) and the panel system starts at $587 (for 60x72). From other Chilewich products we've seen we think that these would be super durable and easy to maintain. Our favorites: the woodgrain in dogwood and both sizes of the basket weave pattern.

Love the look of the Chilewich fabrics and flooring. I have considered using them on several occasions but vinyl, no matter how cleverly executed, loses its charm quickly at $14 - $16 a square foot.
I have a cosmetically similar installation in my office. I have a pair of windows that are approximately 5' wide and 10' high and which have an unobstructed west view from the 51st floor of a Chicago high rise. They work very well if the goal is to cut down on the brain-shattering later afternoon glare that can cause the right side of my body to be 15 degrees warmer than the left.
On the other hand, they are not especially appealing visually; so they stay rolled up all the way unless needed. And as the previous poster implied, they look a lot better in an office than they probably would at home.
