Chinon AVi iPod Dock Doubles As Portable DTV

We're not sure whether or not this is supposedly the next generation of boomboxes comin' at us in full Technicolor, but it does seem to make enough evolutionary sense, right? Simply follow the Chinon formula - toss in a 7-inch LCD, attach a huge external antenna for DTV signals, and leave enough room to squeeze in those 8 "C" batteries to provide those 3 whole hours of action-packed, mobile entertainment fun.

Then again, perhaps "entertainment" may be stretching it a little bit. We'd prefer to call it the "just-in-case" boombox for now. What we mean is that we imagine the device would be great (or even perfect) during long power outages and/or floods - not so much a mobile one-stop-shop for entertainment (especially given the limited 3 hour battery life).

On the other hand, if you happen to have been raised in the 80's and 90's, you may appreciate its retro-shaped sharp edges and throwback design. The Chinon AVi iPod Dock packs an AUX input, an ATSC digital TV tuner with AV out, built-in telescopic radio antenna, an external TV antenna, digital FM radio, and an alarm clock. It retails for $199.
