Soulmates Chris and Madgi live to explore Mother Earth. Both artists, they find their inspiration in their travels around the world, and they bring that creativity back home to Los Angeles. Chris is an artist, musician, and professional surfer and his handiwork is abundant in the newlyweds’ home, from the paintings on the wall to the studio he built. Madgi is a trained jewelry designer and craftswoman who creates magical necklaces, earrings, cuffs, and rings for her online shop, Bahgsu Jewels. Chris and Madgi often collaborate on their spiritually-charged jewelry designs in their cozy cabin by the beach.

A perfect reflection of their life together, environmentalists Chris and Madgi’s sunny home is filled with meaningful and eclectic items from their travels. The couple’s woodsy one-bedroom A-frame cabin overlooks the Pacific Ocean, visible through an enviable wall of windows. Checking the morning surf is a cinch for Chris, and Madgi gets to listen the waves rolling in as she handcrafts her jewelry. The vegetarian couple met a few years ago in a yoga class and fell in love through their shared interests.

Our Style: Style is eclectic and natural, we adore the earth and all of her natural gifts. We believe in surrounding ourselves with items collected during our journeys. Our style has influences from many cultures, ecosystems, and environments.

Inspiration: Mother Earth of course, her beautiful elements are abundant. Our space is home to crystals from faraway caves and naturally-molted feathers from exotic birds. We tend to source our decor from our extensive travels, which allows for our inspiration to be a constant creative flow.

Favorite Element: We live in an A-frame cabin built from redwood, circa 1940s. There is a wall of large windows that overlook the Pacific Ocean and they offer endless views of the ever-changing sea. From sunset to sundown, we can watch flocks of birds soaring by, dolphins playing, and whales breathing. Many blessings abound.

Biggest Challenge: Well, that offers an interesting reply. It is hard to stay put for there are always travel temptations galore and nothing makes us feel more alive than being on the road. That said, once home again, we find ourselves not leaving the house for days on end. The challenge lies within our introverted side and not always taking advantage of living in the expansive city of LA. It would be amazing to see more live music, taste more fantastic food, and immerse ourselves in city life!

What Friends Say: Our house perfectly suits our personalities. The size, the view, the natural setting all compliment who we are and what we believe in, and it’s easy to see where we have been! Plus, they never want to leave. Our friends love joining us for board games beside the fire!

Biggest Embarrassment: Due to the fact we work out of our home and organization is a weakness, at times the studio is a true disaster. Sure, we are artists and it’s cliché to be a mess, but if there is an unexpected guest, they will witness chaotic perfection. We know where everything is, but the casual observer will just see a pile of stuff!

Proudest DIY: Chris built a beautiful desk that serves as our joint artist table. He stained the wood to match the walls and it is at the perfect ergonomic height!

Biggest Indulgence: Several of the Hindi deity statues throughout the home are ancient and rare. Constructed of inexpensive materials, they are handcrafted and act as reminders of powerful life lessons.

Best Advice: Buy what you love, what makes you feel good, not what “matches”. No worries if it is does not work in your current idea of what you might “need”. If it is something that makes you happy, there will always be a place for it and soon your house will be filled with objects of affection versus space fillers.

Dream Sources: Handcrafted and unique shops all over the world. The key is to find spaces where the owners have pride in their work.
