Your Favorite Thing About Your Outdoor Space: That's a tough one. There are so many favorite things because I consider it such a vital component of my apartment. Having lived without an outdoor space in the past, I know that I cannot ever again live without my own little patch of nature, no matter how tiny it may be. If I had to choose a favorite thing, I guess it would be the flexibility of the space. I can BBQ, read and nap on the bench, pull out the bench and sit around it on the ground during dinner parties (as in one of the photos), have the girls over for wine and cheese, eat cherries right off of the tree that hangs over my deck. It's my little hidden gem.
Biggest Design Challenge With This Space: My apartment is a rental, so I cannot completely change or alter with construction or paint. That's hard because I have tons of ideas, but I don't think the landlord would be happy with me if I tried to do them!
Tips for Creating a Great Small Outdoor Space: I am a big believer that if you surround yourself with things you love, your space will always come together and look great. Don't be afraid to mix different styles. Mine is so eclectic, and that's what makes it mine! Pick up textiles, pottery and trinkets on your travels, and incorporate those things into your design. Bring the indoors outside. Who says you can't have a bed with lots of pillows and even blankets? Those things are what makes it cozy! Oh, and have fun with your decorating. It's OK to get a little crazy.
Thanks, Christine, and good luck!

So fun and functional in such a small place! I love it!
This is my #1!
Love it!!!!!
This deck is so beautiful. I want to live there!
Loving it! Can just imagine sharing a glass of wine out there!
Flat out dying to know where in Brooklyn, and when she's planning on moving out. That pretty much goes for every NYC space I've ever seen on here.
A nice eclectic urban hippie look, but not very practical as none of those loads of textiles are outdoor fabric, and would have to be stored indoors when not in use.
awesome! i love it! i just wonder how things will hold up with the weather? do you only do this in summer? or are these things easily replaceable?
and it looks cold in the photo what season is it then? great style!!
love it!
I just want to go and relax, and get lost in the space and enjoy a glass of wine and leave the stress of the day behind
Love your little slice of outdoor heaven!
I think this looks a lot better than our fifth floor lounge from back in the day at Phi.

O U T S T A N D I N G!!!
This one is probably the smallest of all the finalists - but every inch of space is used to great & cosy effect - that gets my vote!
I love it! My old roommate is so creative!
