- What do you love about your bedroom?:
- After a little bit of sleuthing, I'm pretty sure my bedroom is an earthquake shack: dragged from the refugee camps to its current site and attached to another shack after the 1906 earthquake and fire! I love that despite the size (140 square feet: not coincidentally the same dimensions as Earthquake Shack Type A) I've managed to fit a king bed and a myriad of other uses.
- What are your tips for creating a beautiful, healthy and organized bedroom?
- Be ruthless when editing your possessions; everything needs a place or it goes. Also, in a tiny space, every inch counts: always keep your tape measurer handy.
- In modern homes, bedrooms have become more than just a place to sleep; they can be a retreat, a home office, a library, a relaxation zone. What are some ways you make the most of your bedroom?
- Along with the king bed, my tiny bedroom is an office, a wardrobe, and an entryway (I prefer to ignore my cottage's street entrance and use the back patio entrance via the bedroom instead). But I've kept the palette white and neutral so that -- despite the multi-tasking -- it's still relaxing and a pleasure to be in.

Love the lamps!
I think truly neutral bedrooms like this can work for small spaces. I'd love to see a few more touches of color, though, as in the attractive map by the shelf. Have to admit I'm a little put off by the combo of the animal hide and teddy bear on the bed. I'd replace the hide with a lovely blanket of some kind--that might be the place for a little color in the room.
I'd never heard of earthquake shack buildings - neat!
I can just picture some PETA folks storming in to ad a "splash" if color to this bedroom. I'm so down with animal skins, leather, antlers (I have all three in the joint) and such but that Calfskin kinda creeps me out a little...OK, a lot.
That THING on the end of the bed is repulsive, sorry.
Like the calming colors you chose. Love your bookcases! Earthquake shack - that's AWESOME!
I like the whole room, including including the skins. I guess because I grew up in the West, cowhide, sheepskin, and rattlesnake skin don't bother me. And while I don't have any taxidermy in my own home, I like the idea that the entire animal is being used rather than just put in landfill.
If you truly believe that you are in an earthquake shack, you should really have it certified. There are only a few known to still exist.
Glad to see there is another stylish adult out there with a stuffed animal on the bed. I'm not alone!

I don't mind the fact that there is an animal skin in this bedroom, but I think it looks odd on the bed. Since very little is hanging on the walls, it might be an interesting idea to hang the animal skin on the wall. Or layer it over the other rug on the floor?
I really like the open shelving! I think the wood & metal is cool looking and fits well with the neutral tone.
i love the neutral palette but you should add some art to the bare walls. :) i know it's a bad idea to hang a framed painting with glass at the head of a bed in SF, but you could put up a painted canvas or some fabric w/o a frame.
Love the simplicity of your room. Really beautiful. Keep it simple people! Nicely done. A large art piece/photo would look great above the bed as well, but I also like it the way it is too.
Not only do I love this room, but I freaking LOVE this room. So simple, so chic, so clean, so....ughh.....I love it!
