- What I Love About My Small Home:
- The first things we fell in love with when we found this little home were the high ceilings and open areas/rooms that bleed into one another, yet every part feels like its own entity. We love the "shotgun" style of the apartment and the enclosed "sun-room" or porch at the very end off the bedroom. I would often start from one end of the house and run quickly to the other, sliding on the hardwood midway in my socks until I reached the end. I love the archways, the stained glass, and the little nooks that are tucked away. I especially love the original tiling on the bathroom floor. We have loved hosting so many people for suppers and parties in the cozy space of this little apartment of ours.
- Biggest Challenge of Living in a Small Space
- The biggest challenge was by far the fact that our landlord prohibits painting. I love color and to find out that we were unable to paint posed a great challenge in designing our little space. I solved this as best I could by added color through vintage furniture and accessories such as our curtains, couches, artwork and signs. I also found a large 1950's church pew that I fixed up and painted green for the "entry way". So I've tried to incorporate cheerful colors in ways other than paint on a wall. When I did all this, the white walls weren't so bad after all!

I admire your excellent use of color!
Way to represent the Lou! What neighborhood?
What's not to love about this little home. The details are wonderful. You've certainly made it your own with nice use of color, despite the landlord's prohibition. Wish I could see more.
I would love to see a full on home tour of your place. I love it!
Been waiting on a St. Louis entry! This so cute - it looks like it could be in the south city neighborhood :) Great work!
Hmmmm, Holly Hills/Carondelet maybe? (St Louisans ALWAYS need to know what neighborhood, Christina :-) Great place.
I adore this space.
WOOT WOOT!! Another St. Louisan glad you're doing us proud :)
This looks like a great space! Is it a duplex? I'm looking for apartments right now in STL and would love to find a place like this. If you need/want a neighbor... :)
Thanks for all your st. Louisan pride! We live in South city, or tower grove south. Its a four family flat close to t.g. Park. We love it here!
So glad to see so many AT readers showing their STL pride! Love your place, way to represent! I live in Dogtown across from Forest Park and love it. Tower Grove would probably be my second choice. :)
Thanks for sharing your place!
I love that area! Are any of your flat mates planning to move in the next two months? :)
The small herringbone tile pattern on the bathroom floor is lovely.
Loooove your sofa! And those vintage looking (assuming original) kitchen cabinets are fabulous!
Beautiful place, nice taste. It is cool – but small?! I don't think 900 square feet for a couple can be considered small. We have 600 square feet and I don't even consider that small...
At first I saw this and thought --- wait, that looks just like my place in U-City...
Yay for StL!
I love all the vintagey touches. Very nice!
that couch is AWESOME!
Very nice. Those rattan chairs made me chuckle, my mother had a pair of them in light blue in our den for years. They're in a rental apartment now, 20 years later these K-Mart chairs are going strong!
just how long is that sofa?? I can't even imagine moving it. I ask only because I want it. Do you deliver?
I want to hug this apartment.
Christina...your place is outstanding!! hugs :)
Great apartment brings back memories of my younger days!
