We recently came across the home of Christine d'Ornano, Sisley cosmetics executive, over at Elle Decor and have returned to look at it several times since then. While we are pretty sure we won't have the task of outfitting a large London home with drawing rooms and terraces anytime soon, we can appreciate her unabashed use of color and scale to create a sophisticated yet comfortable home.
Christina and her husband purchased their neglected townhouse about three years ago. Luckily, it had terrific bones...large windows, high ceilings and an expansive central hall. They worked together to create a cozy home full of contemporary art, family heirlooms and modern pieces. Her choice of prints and large accent pieces (the Serge Mouille lamps in the living room and vintage lamps from a car factory in the dining room are amazing!) take the home from something stuffy and proper to refined, yet relaxed.
To learn more about Christine's home and to see more images, visit Elle Decor: A London Townhouse Revitalized.
If you haven't visited the new Elle Decor (formerly Point Click Home), be sure to drop by as it's now obviously derived from the magazine and much easier to navigate.

the colors and scale of the flowers on the dining room table are phenomenal.
I love. love. love. those yellow chairs. And that couch! So pretty.
SO beautiful!
I really hope her husband has a nice dark mancave to escape to.
I saw this earlier today and just though beautiful and feminine. The pink wall, that sofa and huge black tufted ottoman made me swoon, but not crazy about the white chairs. I like the use of industrial lighting throughout.
beautiful. any idea of what color that paint is in the first two photos? and any guesses where those lights are from over the table in the second photo? beeaaauuuttyy!
I'd like to believe I read Apartment Therapy for design inspiration and ideas.
But no, it's a form of Self Torture!!
I so want a gorgeous home with "good bones" and big windows and space and ohhhhhhhhh sigh. House porno.
Beautiful Beautiful Beautiful. I would love to be in a space like that.
You have a redundant "three years ago" phrase you might want to cull.
I was just looking at this again last night, simply gorgeous! Can I just say April's issue of Elle Decor was the best, so much inspiration!
The 'lacquered grey' look like what i was picturing for my own living room....the lightest of light greys.
She has lived a very fabled life =)
Really, really lovely!
