Swedish calligrapher Ylva Skarp has a flair for the flourish, and her love of lettering is evident not only in her work, but throughout her highly personal and stylized home. Words are the stitches that sew rooms together, and everywhere one looks, there's a bit of text to take in. Perhaps that's why, when it comes to Christmas, Ylva prefers to keep things simple and allow nature to speak the language of the season…
Ylva's home looks so cozy, doesn't it? I love her casual and welcoming Christmas style. For more holiday inspiration from the artist, visit 79 Ideas.

Sheex Bedding
Stunning! I absolutely love her style~
Those pillows with the little flower poof. I love them.
White and grey always feels very cold to me and that wallpaper looks like grafitti to.
Not a fan of the painted wardrobe/cabinet.
Over all, not a favorite however there are some nice touches but that's just personal opinion and style.
Beautiful modern Scandinavian style. The sofa looks so inviting with the furry throw on it. I love the pallets turned into coffee tables by adding industrial wheels. What a great idea and the rustic wood adds warmth.
I really like the hanging behind the sofa with the wonderful calligraphy on it - is it a textile? Is it commercially available?
But 'cozy' is not the word I would use to describe it.
Oh my. I just got 500 ideas from her website 79 ideas. She is kind enough to link to other inspirational sites, and now I'm overwhelmed. Ok. One project at a time. Breathe.
Like the wall hanging, but adding it to the floor was too matchy matchy; even if it's your own talent.
I like whites, greys etc. but yes, it does seem even the radiators wouldn't warm up this room. Pallet tables are . . . intriguing, but fear they look better in the pic than in person.
I wish I could do calligraphy (without endless practice, of course!)
I love the look, but I couldn't live with it. All that white and neutral is lovely, and totally coordinates with her "natural decor" style. But I need color. And the more color (and detail) you add, the less effective the natural decor is. It can still be attractive, but the starkness of the basic space is what sets the simple natural forms off, and they get lost in my space.
I've found the trick for pallet tables is patience. There are a lot of junk looking pallets out there. Wait for one that looks good and grab it, now! Hers look like untreated wood, unpainted with a birch tabletop and hardware store casters. I do agree that the overall look of the room is rather cool. But it comes to mind that it mimics the colors found outdoors in the high northern latitudes.
I found a great pallet and made a table out of it and LOVE it!
I love her style! The personal touches with the calligraphy are stunning!
