The heart of the Mission 'el Corazon', San Francisco
So this is my Mission flat. It has gone through many changes over 8 years that I've been there, but finally it seems to have reached homeostasis. I am happy with it.
The styling draws heavily from the 1960s. I have always been inspired by the optimistic faith in the plastic future and technology that the early the mid-century aesthetic captures. I think it is the last period who's faith in the future went completely unchallenged. The decay of that simple Utopian sensibility is as beautiful in it's naivete as it is tragic.
Traditionally, I have been a modern purest but in embracing the florid quality of my 1900 Queen Anne flat, I have lately been contrasting my danish modern pieces with more baroque elements. I love the tension.
