Columbian Park Zoo. The zoo, open April to October, is free to visit and has wonderful exhibits - butterfly habitat, farm petting area, wallaby walkabout - and lots of other animals from a bald eagle to prairie dogs. The zoo isn't very large and the exhibits are small so they were great for my young children. Plus, there is a small fountain area for the kids to dip their toes (or splash) in. Also, there are several wonderful age appropriate playgrounds throughout the park. Best Tip for Traveling with Kids: Be prepared. Take more diapers, pull-ups, outfits, food, milk, formula, etc. than you think you'll need for the plane. Our flight was delayed almost two hours and I was thankful I had those extra supplies. Favorite Way to Make it Feel Like Home: We always bring a favorite toy and/or book for each child. Cicely doesn't leave home without her lambie and Goodnight Moon and Finnegan is sure to have his bla bla panda bear. An Item you MUST Take With You While Traveling: The CARES flight restraint system. It is small, compact and lightweight and when you use it, you don't have to drag a heavy car seat onto the plane. Thanks Emily!
