Bright sky blue for sure. Maybe some fun modern green. Rusty orange and red definitely. Can't forget about a crisp white and a cool, modern gray. These are the colors we think about when we think of Austin’s color palette. Our guesses are informed by the colors we see not only around Austin’s landmarks, but also in the color palettes we see popping up again and again in Austin homes.
What would your city’s color palette be? Does your city have one? Is it inspired by the natural landmarks? Or maybe a famous building? Do you notice a lot of people leaning towards certain colors in their homes? And most importantly, are the colors in your own home inspired by the colors you see around your city?

I was really excited to look at this post, being from Austin myself, but your right hand column with the ads is currently displaying on top of the pictures.
This was one of my favorite things about visiting Austin for the first time last year. I just walked/drove around for hours looking at all of the colorful homes, especially in the hoods near the So. Congress strip. It makes me wish people were a little for adventurous with house color here in Chicago, where we could definitely use the pick-me-up during the doldrums of winter.
Wow, that front door is amazing! Love the colors and the lines!
Love the turquoise door next to the orange siding.
LOVE this palette! We are renovating our house in Austin and this is the exact color scheme I was planning to go with to de-beige the interiors.
Nothing like a jolt of Mexican colors from a field of zinnias!!! Oh, the inspiration! And truthfully, that's the best way to grow them, in a mass where they can play off each other. Now if there were just some blue in there. An elderly gardener told me when I was first getting started as a landscape garden designer that blue could fix any color problem in the garden. Great colors throughout this post.
Ha! I live in Austin and these are almost the exact colors in my friends' house and mine.
Love these colors. You don't really don't see colors like that on a home where I live. It's pretty rare.
