Week 2 flew by and I don't feel like much progress was made, but I also didn't feel overwhelmed with an impossibly long to-do list. I even made a few new discoveries about my home thanks to the fresh perspective day.
Day 4: Get a fresh perspective in just 10 minutes.
This is going to sound strange, but I never use our guest bathroom and when we moved in, it had no mirror or space to even put soap, so I installed a shelf from IKEA and put up a $5 garage sale mirror and called it a day. I have always received a lot of comments about the mirror, as it's convex and more fun than functional, and after sitting in the room, which is literally only 27 inches wide, I realized that a regular mirror would give the illusion of a larger space as only mirrors really can.
Day 5: Select one project to complete this month.
The project that I absolutely need to complete this month is desk and file cabinet organization, as my office space is a part of my living and entertaining space. I really wanted to tackle this corner nook before my in-laws came for the holidays, but life happened and this task did not get accomplished.
Day 6: Choose a piece of artwork and get going on framing it.
I seem to collect affordable art all the time that is lying around waiting for a frame, so this was the perfect excuse to frame an illustration that has been waiting for a home for months. I picked up this piece in a local shop called Smug, because my husband and I are obsessed with having lip balms around and it seemed perfect for the bathroom.
Day 7: Get your get-together together.
We have an annual Holiday Dessert party, but this party didn't come together in 2012, so now I'm planning on it for around Valentine's Day, since dessert and Valentine's go perfectly together.
Day 8: Flowers, kitchen cleaning & make a meal..Picked up some flowers at the market on my way home from work. I'm always cooking so it doesn't seem like a luxury to make a meal for myself, but cleaning and organizing the kitchen is a luxury — and it's definitely cut down on the the time spent cooking meals now that everything is easy to find.

The mirror in the bathroom is cool, and it really is more fun than functional, but with it being a bathroom, I think I'd prefer function over fun. At least a bigger mirror that was flat, so guests can check their makeup, fix a contact lens, or make sure they don't have anything in their teeth.
I can't wait to see the bathroom with that great print and a new mirror!
Your desk is a lot lime mine at times, stuff just piled on it willy, nilly and thus the surface is buried under crap.
Right now, it's mostly cleared off, but I do need to really take things off, dust and wipe down with 409 or something and a cloth. That happened very recently as I've been tackling the entire bedroom as it had been left to go to pot and had so much crap in front of the closet, I could barely get in there, and part of it was my late Mom's old PC, which I was reworking into a DVR, it's not finished, but a good way there and got it so I can move it into the living room where it'll reside until I can afford to replace it as it's 8 years old, running XP and thus out of date, but it's what I gotta do on almost no budget. :-)
Once I finish tidying up the desk itself, I can resume with job search tasks. It's so hard to concentrate when I can't see the desk surface for all the crap.
Good luck with the Cure!
You like Molton Brown! Their suma ginseng hand lotion is the ultimate luxury for me. I hope you are enjoying them.
I love your desk! Where did it come from? I need something fun and functional like that, hopefully available in the UK!
Good work!
