Clara's Happy Handmade Vintage Room

Small Kids, Big Color Entry #26

Pin it button big

Name: Clara (2)
Location: Denver

Color Inspiration: The crewelwork that is above Clara's dresser was my jumping off point for decorating her room. It was made by my husband's great grandmother and was given to me by my mother-in-law. I am embarrassed to admit that I had actually given it back to her last year and then I asked for it back when I started decorating Clara's "big girl room." It is a perfect piece for her room and I love that she has a little piece of family history in it.

Tip for Using Color: Don't try hard to make everything match (that seems to be very common advice!) Nothing matches in Clara's room, but somehow it all works. I painted her walls white because I wanted to be able to add in color with the accessories. I have a tendency (much to my husband's dismay) to change things around A LOT, so for me white walls work best. White does not have to be boring! I crocheted the blankets and the flower garland using colors that were already in her room to tie it all together. I found this amazing mustard colored kids chair at a local thrift store last year and it fits in to her decor perfectly. I am initially drawn to more vintage items, but her bed and dresser are fairly modern which balances the room out nicely.

Colors Used: White, Light Pink, Fuschia, Orange, Aqua, Yellow, Green.....any color really!

Thanks for your colorful entry Amt and good luck!
