Did you read Highlights Magazine as a kid? I did, and my very favorite part, hands down, was the Making Things section. Every month I would eagerly await the magazine's arrival in our mailbox, and then I would beg my mom to help me make a caterpillar out of an egg carton or a castle from a cardboard box. Now that I'm all grown up, I aspire to things a little more ambitious than caterpillars, but I still love making things. If you're anything like me, you'll love these DIYs from our Apartment Therapy video archives.
This is for those of you who want to do something a little more involved: how to make an IKEA Frosta stool look a little more like its Aalto cousins (and add some color in the process).
Make John Gleeson Connolly shares instructions for building a hammered light with a rustic/industrial feel. Not only will it light up your home, but you'll have the satisfaction of being able to tell people "I made that!". Here is the extended version, for those of you looking for detailed instructions.
And finally, a project from our archives that is one of my favorites... how to make a custom light switch plate shaped like a bunny (or any other creature you desire).
Thanks for watching, and happy crafting!
