If you have a favorite book from your childhood, a great way to honor it and pass it on to your own children is to use it to design bedroom decor. We've found some great rooms that use classic children's literature as their design motifs.
1. Goodnight Moon room featured at Toledo Blade: "Goodnight stars, goodnight air, goodnight noises everywhere."
2. Richard Scarry Little Golden Book nursery on The Bump: "Pa wakes up from his nap. He says to Penny, "I think the next care we buy will be a Bananamobile." "Oh goody," says Penny. Would you like to have a Bananamobile?
3. Cat in the Hat room by Croatian painter Amel Memišević: "I know it is wet and the sun is not sunny, but we can have lots of good fun that is funny."
4. Wizard of Oz room at Miscellaneous Me: "I'll get you, my pretty, and your little dog, too!"
5. Felix's TinTin Inspired Nursery on Apartment Therapy: "Billions of bilious blue blistering barnacles!"
6. Charlotte's Web nursery at Heritage Homes and Designs: "Oh no...I don't understand it. But for that matter I don't understand how a spider learned to spin a web in the first place. When the words appeared, everyone said they were a miracle. But nobody pointed out that the web itself is a miracle."
7. Harry Potter room at HGTV's Rate My Room: "It takes a great deal of bravery to stand up to our enemies, but just as much to stand up to our friends."
8. Curious George room featured at The Washington Post: "This is George. He was a good little monkey, and always very curious."
9. The Lorax room at Reno Sparks Mom: "Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It's not."
10. Beatrix Potter nursery at Apartment Therapy: "Once upon a time there were four little Rabbits, and their names were--Flopsy, Mopsy, Cottontail, and Peter."
Which classic children's book do you dream of turning into decor?

Nomade Express Slee...
wizard of oz seems scary for the child. The charlotte's web one is adorable
That Charlotte's Web room is beautiful. I like the Goodnight Moon one as well.
Ha ha ha, that Cat in the Hat quote always makes me think of The Addams Family. The mural in that Lorax room is lovely; I'd like to see more whimsical Seuss-ian furniture though.
The Beatrix Potter room is calming and conducive to sleeping. The other rooms are too bright and too visually active for sleeping but might work better as playrooms. Also, some very young children might be terrified by the The Bump, Wizard of Oz and Harry Potter (eek, what are those things on the wall?) rooms.
Fun! I have been thinking that I want to redo my daughter's room to look like Lisa's bedroom in Corduroy. Glad to know I'm not the only one copying rooms out of books! :)
@lynnindc - You really think the Harry Potter room looks scary? By what? The brooms on the wall? My 8 year would love that room.
The Goodnight Moon room and the Harry Potter room are my favorites. What great execution!
