Like many of you, I'm a bit of a neat freak when it comes to my desk, and I prefer a clean look. I bought an Apple Magic Trackpad to go with my Apple Wireless Keyboard so that I could have all of the advantages of multitouch when my laptop is hooked up to my monitor. But in practice, the Magic Trackpad would slide all over the desk, and it got really irritating. I needed a fix, and fortunately there was one -- the TwelveSouth Magic Wand.
So what is the Magic Wand? It's a simple device that lets you clip your Apple Wireless Keyboard and Magic Trackpad in place to join the two together. But just putting the two devices into a beam doesn't really work, so they included an I-beam shaped plastic insert to keep the two stiff and lined up perfectly. It's not a permanent fixture either, so if I ever need to swap out the batteries it's no sweat.
Not only did this clean up the look of my desk significantly, it also allowed me to work with the keyboard/trackpad combo on my lap if I ever wanted to kick back. And if I ever get a setup in the living room as a home theatre system, then I'll use the same Magic Wand combo because it keeps things nice and tidy — plus portable.
And the price? Right at $30 — the best $30 I've ever spent.

i really like it, but i see a flaw.
in the video, the show a father and son using it on their own laps. while you can scroll around and type, you can not click. the track pad require a surface for feedback for the click to work. unless you're just pressing the nub in the back like button
If the first pic is what you consider 'dirty' enough to 'clean up' - I wonder what you'd think of my messier desk.
Design wise, why did they make the curved piece of plastic white and the straight piece gray? Why not both gray? That bugs me.
I am a TwelveSouth fan-boy. Nearly everything they make is perfect, but I do agree with 'modernguy' it bugs me too.
@krisdaloo Enabling "Tap to click" will let you click without triggering it mechanically.
If this is the biggest problem you face, take the $30, go out and buy yourself and your friends a drink to celebrate that this is your biggest 'problem'.
I have a wireless keyboard and magic track pad and I find that the pad doesn't slide all over the place and I like that I can move it around so it's more ergonomic for me.
