Have you ever woken up one morning and stumbled into your living room (or come home from being out of town and walk through your front door) and smelled something a little...off? Something slightly stinky without a clear source? It might be this spot in your home that gets dirty often and cleaned rarely.

This Weekend's Assignment:

Clean your home's trash can(s)!

Sure, you probably manage to take the trash out every few days or so — but when's the last time you gave the container that holds your household's trash a good cleaning? Your home's trashcans (the main one you use in the kitchen, plus any smaller ones you might have in your bathrooms, bedrooms or home office) can get grimy the longer you use them, and this accumulation of grime, gunk, old food and more can really cause a stink that starts in your kitchen but slowly moves through your home if you're not careful. This can particularly be a problem the smaller your space is.

So what to do? Well, a good cleaning of your trash can(s) inside and out will set you up for a few months. And then you can determine how often you need to clean them moving forward (probably every few months and when you have any major spills).
