I know you've heard this advice from magazines and fashion blogs: wear nice underwear to boost your confidence and do something lovely just for you (unless, you know, it's for someone else, too. Win win!). I'm not gonna tell you the state of my undies right now, but here's what I do at home that gives me the exact same feeling.

I clean my baseboards.

I know, UGH. Now, full disclosure: I would describe myself as lazy around the house, but as I was doing a little spring cleaning recently, I came to a moment where I could have technically been done. Everything looked tidy, clean and totally guest ready. But then I noticed my filthy baseboards and I decided to go one step further which is so unlike LAZY me.

I wiped down every baseboard in my apartment and, even though it didn't look very different (and no one who wasn't me would have noticed either way), it felt pretty darn good. The difference was that I knew it was completely clean. I knew I'd done my absolute best and — surprisingly — that was more satisfying than being lazy. Huh. Is this what maturity feels like?

Tell me, what extra things do you pay extra attention to at home?
