We love chunky wood puzzles at our house but finding a good storage solution has never been easy. I purchased special wood puzzle storage boxes which are expensive and only work for some of our puzzles.
Enter this clever DIY solution to your puzzle storage woes I spotted at Kreative Resources. Can you tell what it is? It's a metal file stand affixed to the back of a bookshelf. The metal slots are strong enough to hold your wood puzzles in place. You can find these for cheap at thrift stores and garage sales and the spacing between the slots work well for a variety of puzzles sizes.

Shaw's Original Fir...
That is clever.
This one has worked well for us because it holds two standard formats: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00146I2WM/ref=pd_lpo_k2_dp_sr_1/192-5093348-9481324?pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_s=lpo-top-stripe-1&pf_rd_r=1ZKV56E87P6QYAV5Z57Z&pf_rd_t=201&pf_rd_p=486539851&pf_rd_i=B000088UPW
It is called the Melissa and Doug Deluxe Wire Puzzle Rack
Thanks you so much for posting my little storage idea! I must say it holds up to 15 very rambunctious toddlers on a daily basis. It's one of the easiest puzzle shelves I have ever used in a preschool setting. The kids can search puzzles easily and return them with no difficulty at all! Leeanne A
wow! i thought it was little pegs on either side, to hold the puzzles like they were a shelf.
