Similar to using chairs as unconventional bedside tables, Rhiannon and Victor use a small dresser with drawers as one of their tables/night stands...
We love the asymmetry (but matching styles) of the two bedside pieces, as well as the variation on lighting and plants. It feels balanced without reading matchy-matchy or too his 'n hers.

I think this is a great idea but you have to watch the height of the dresser vs the height of the bed. The image above shows bedside tables that are a little too high for the bed. Generally, bedside tables are about 26" high which is an ideal height to reach the table top from bed and reach a lamp to turn on and off. Of course, this can vary depending on the bed height too.
I didn't realize it was unconventional. We did the same thing when our room was too big for both dresser drawers and nightstands. A good small space solution.
oops, "when our room was too SMALL..."
Is that a painting of a thestral over their bed?? Awesome/weird.
we use a low bookcase next to our son's bed. he's three, and it's perfect for choosing a bedtime story. the top of the bookcase is the perfect spot for his favorite bedtime toys.
I have really nice cherry-wood two-drawer lateral files on either side of my bed. Who says you have to have nightstands?
@ Caitlin - that caught my eye too. i likey.
Matching bedroom set usually have a two drawer bedside table option, I find this very conventional not saying its a bad thing I just would not say its "unconventional.
Nothing the least bit unconventional about this...
...but they are far too tall for that bed (or the bed is too low for these)
That artwork has appeared in at least one other AT post before this. If my memory serves me, it was also hung with bulldog clips. Maybe an Urban Outfitters pre-fab art kit?
my bed is really tall and I use a dresser as a nightstand.
