My parents collected driftwood when I was little. The varied, contorted pieces were displayed in a rock garden at the entrance of our home. Which was nice and all but just looked a little, well, predictable. This display, however, from an Apartment Therapy house tour, is striking in its originality:
It takes the popular sunburst frame and recreates it out of ocean-worn pieces of wood. The wonderful display is from Lindsay's Beach Girl Haven.
Do you have any collected pieces of driftwood? Have you found any similarly creative ways to display them?

Do you have a tutorial on how to make one of these?
I've amassed a number of great driftwood artwork from around the web and assembled them all onto a blog I like to call Driftwood Stuff. Several examples are from previous AT posts and tours. I'd love to see more if you have any to suggest! There are numerous links on my simple blog, taking you to two outstanding sculptors in the UK, doing amazing things with driftwood. http://driftwoodstuff.blogspot.com/
I had to throw away a good collection of 2X4's I've rescued from the beach over the years when moving recently. We simply ran out of time and energy to deal with it all. That's alright, there will always be driftwood on our lake's beaches.

Jukles, my hunch is you start with a doughnut shaped piece of wood then start hot gluing the pieces onto it. I've seen some done with a mirror as a background.
You should really reconsider having a whole month dedicated to collecting. All these posts are adding to lasts year's disgust and fatigue.
I've only been reading AT a few months and am enjoying the collecting series. I expect complaints about it are actually compliments for AT, since people obviously look forward to AT and expect a lot ;-)
