Once a shower space that could fit 12, Anna transformed a seedy basement into a childhood dream-come-true. Anna is a collector of furniture, clothing, and accessories - as seen in the House Tour: Anna & Dan's White House Laundry Loft. She had long dreamed of a dressing room space to display and try on her clothes and accessories. Take a mini-tour of this fantastic closet in the basement...

the dresser/mirror piece in the first picture is beautiful. is it vintage?
Soooooo jealous!!! I wish I had a basement!!
so awesome! are all of these clothes just for show, or is this the picture of her "closet" of sorts? either way i want it and i'm jealous.
I know this doesn't apply to all houses, but I would never put my clothes in the basement. My friend's basement flooded this past spring and all her summer clothing was ruined. Same thing has happened at my parents' place. And aren't basements sometimes pretty humid?
Though I'll admit having your closet so close to the laundry machines must be pretty handy.
I think one thing she did really really well was lighting. It can be so hard to properly light a basement and you can tell there is a ton of light in there. Great job. I like the idea of displaying my jewelry a la jewelry store. Hm... Time to steal ideas.
One thing to consider, a neat fireplace screen in front of the cat boxes. Just a little cover, not enough to block light or access.
So jealous! It would be like going to your favorite boutique only everything would fit and everything would be free. I don't have this many clothes, but I could totally fill in the space with shoes!
I love this!
Thank you! love this space, even without room for this i find dressing rooms SO inspirational.
I want one! :-(
I love the idea -- wish we had scratch n sniff posts on AT so I could satisfy myself that the whiff wasn't a mix of mould & cat litter!
Unless somehow your basement miraculously is flood free and gets plenty of ventilation, it's no place for your clothing to be hanging full time.
With that in mind, I'm still jealous though if I had that many clothes and shoes, I'd definitely purge myself of at least a third of them.
Man, it's nice, but I agree with others that said the basement is no place to keep clothing. The house I grew up in had the laundry room in the basement. Our closets were small, so we kept most of our clothing hung in the laundry room. A. Our clothing always had a musty smell that was detectable as soon as we walked outside and B. basements flood. End of story.
that is lovely :-)
(what is it with you people? i find it rather rude to suggest Anna should get rid of part of her clothes - isn't that alone for her to decide? she has the space for it, and she likes them - end of story.)
Very cute! I LOVE the jewelry display case. What a great idea. I have a nice sized walk-in and am itching to make it over. I will be scouring CL for a way to show off some of my nicer jewelry, shoes, and handbags. Well done.
Oh, people who don't have cats always assume that the box smells. Daily cleaning prevents that. If you are worried about a musty basement smell, just run an air purifier.
I run a dehumidifier in my basment, and it's fine. Not musty at all.
Pretty space!
Love this. I like the boutique look. Real home shopping with the bills.
I meant "without the bills"..
