One of my favorite house tour DIY inspirations hails from Anne-Marie and Vytas's inviting DC apartment. Their front door opens into a rather narrow entryway, leaving little room for any landing strip furnishings. However, armed with a can of paint and a few accessories, Anne-Marie transformed the tiny pass-through into a memorable focal point.
To create her "poor man's wallpaper" as she calls it, Anne-Marie chose Farrow and Ball's Yellow Ground for the background wall color, and used the "knot" stencil from Sunny's Goodtime Paint. She used leftover white paint over the stencil to create the pattern.
What an amazing transformation a little paint and a lot of patience can make!

I still love this wall - I hope I can do my own version sometime soon...
Oh yes! This is just what I needed to see today! I have been talking about stenciling the wall, and nobody seems to think that it will turn out right. They all think of those terrible grape vine kitchen borders. While we really want some pretty wallpaper, it's not in the budget, so this is the next best thing. If not better!
Lovely!
I want to see the bedroom!
It looks great.
I have the knot stencil too from Sunny. Although, I must confess that I've never used even after owning it for more that a year. Yet I love it still.
Oh! I did a stencil on my wall in the kitchen.
Look here! I am so thrilled with how it came out :)
