Uri made a great use of light and space by hanging these lights over a bar near his ceiling. Seems like an easy project for someone who wants to light up their room while being both cool and dramatic...
You can get this thick wire with a bulb socket at any hardware or lighting store and then you can choose the shape, size and wattage of the bulbs you use. The repetition and uniformity will create a great design all on its own.

Anyone know much about how/where to plug all those lights in? Is a surge protector enough? Can you use CFL bulbs? Good creative opportunity, just don't want to blow up the house. Thanks!

cat- Those particular cords are from Ikea (Hemma) and you can get them in either black or white.
I think it could be a really cool use of lighting. But I'm going back to 'west212' concern... how to plug them in, hiding the (plug-in) cords, etc.
I'm assuming that a few lights arent going to 'blow the house up' but just aestheticly speaking... I guess they all go into a power cord. Cords can be a really frustrating problem.
A power strip or all of them spliced into a single outlet should probably be ok.
If using 7 75-watt bulbs, you would be pulling less than 4.5 amps. A typical hair dryer pulls 10 to 15 amps.
7*75/120v = 4.4 amps
