We are totally impressed with finale of Janel's January Jumpstart - the white lacquer desk looks so chic! And we love the combination of lines, shine, and Chinese style between her jewelry box and desk...

Available at Shanghai Tang, the lacquered wood jewelry box is "lined with Double Fish silk jacquard and decorated with a brushed steel Double Happiness latch."
Stunning, all around, and definitely a splurge for something beautiful.
[Sad side note: since Janel's last post on Shanghai Tang, the jewelry box price has gone up from $155 to $180.]

Good news: there are similar boxes in great colors at West Elm for only $89.
Hey I'm am doing my GSCE (British National Exams for 15-16 year olds) Technology. The type of Technology i am studying is Resistant Materials. This consists of writing folder work and constructing an object using Resistant Materials (Metal, Wood and/or Plastic). I chose to build a jewellery box. I saw this box on google images and thought it Outstanding. I think jewellery boxes look so much better oriental style than Western-world style. The thing i really admire about this box is the little Chinese-Style metal decoration on the front - i think this really makes the box. I was wondering whether it would be possible to by this style metal ornamentation or if it is not possible to get a similar one to put on my jewellery box. Thankyou.
Heh Ciaran I agree with you that Oriental style jewelry boxes are really elegant. I am not sure about the metal pieces on the front specifically but why don't you check this lacquer jewelry box from Mai Style. I love the colors and they're reasonably priced.
